Who do I see? an ophthalmologist or an optometrist?
Both doctors examine your eyes and can diagnose illnesses. The OPHTHALMOLOGIST can perform surgery and treat the more complicated issues of the eyes. The OPTOMETRIST can monitor eye conditions and refer when necessary to an ophthalmologist. Both doctors work together many times.
Why so often?
Along with checking your vision your eye doctor can see other health problems before they become unmanageable. Retina problems, cataracts, and glaucoma are a few of the diseases they can detect.
Do I have to go to Boston for a good eye exam?
No. Concord is lucky to have some of the best and most competent doctors you could want. Starting at Emerson Hospital and expanding throughout the surrounding communities, most specialties are represented.
